Medicine Hat, Alberta – The Medicine Hat Police Service have arrested and charged 32 year old Bradley James Mastel of Medicine Hat with numerous offences related to an incident which occurred the evening of Friday February 17, 2012.

One of our Constables on regular patrol came across a vehicle parked in a secluded area of a City park. The accused was found under suspicious circumstances in the company of a 14 year old female. Further investigation has resulted in Bradley Mastel being charged with Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Sexual Exploitation, Sexual Touching and Unlawful Confinement.

He was released from custody this morning in Court with a list of strict conditions some of which include:
- No direct or indirect contact with victim
- No direct or indirect contact with a child under the age of sixteen  years unless supervised by an adult, except for immediate family
- Not to engage in any activity that involves contact with a child under the age of sixteen years, including using a computer system within the meaning of subsection 342.1(2) for the purpose of communicating with the child under that age
- Not to attend a public park or public swimming area where persons under the age of sixteen years are present or can reasonably be expected to be present, or a day care centre, school ground or playground.
- Not attend within a three block radius of Parkside School, located at 209, 2nd Street SE, Redcliff, AB.

His next court appearance is scheduled for March 6, 2012.

The Service would like to publically commend the efforts of the Constable who initiated this nvestigation. His diligence in locating and then recognizing the circumstances assuredly prevented this incident from escalating.
