Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section continues to investigate the death of a 22-year-old male who was found in a north Edmonton alley on Sunday morning.
The victim has been identified as Welid Sahle Meskel, 22.
The Medical Examiner conducted the autopsy on Feb. 21, 2012, and ruled the manner of death as a homicide. The cause of death will not be released.
Homicide Detectives do not believe this to be a random event and investigations continue.

Background:
Police and EMS responded to the area of 134 Avenue and 101 Street after a resident reported an injured male lying on the ground in an alley around 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012. The 22-year-old male was located and pronounced dead at the scene. Edmonton Police Service Homicide Detectives were called in to investigate the suspicious death.
